Déjà Vu Restaurant & Bar
About This Spot
Stepping into Déjà Vu Restaurant & Bar in the heart of New Orleans’ historic French Quarter feels like slipping into a laid-back local gem with its own quietly confident rhythm. The atmosphere hums with a casual, unpretentious energy that invites both easy conversations and moments of solo reflection. This is the kind of place where the pace slows just enough for you to feel present and connected to the stories woven into the neighborhood’s fabric.
The space itself, modest and unassuming, holds that timeless charm often found in city “holes in the wall” — places that don’t need flashy trappings to make an impression. The steady flow of patrons who settle in for a well-poured beer or a thoughtfully crafted cocktail creates a welcoming buzz, while familiar faces at the bar nod in greeting, a subtle testament to the spot’s local following.
When it comes to the food, Déjà Vu gracefully balances New Orleans favorites with straightforward comfort. The menu is a warm invitation to savor classic staples—think of the rich, hearty jambalaya, the smoky goodness of a Creole trio, or the satisfying crunch of fried pickles that have become something of a local favorite. Mornings here carry the savory aroma of breakfast favorites, with dishes like steak and eggs or eggs Benedict serving as a gentle start to the day, paired with freshly brewed coffee to ease you in.
What lingers most, beyond the flavors, is the genuine feel of a neighborhood spot where the staff's friendly and attentive presence quietly enhances the experience without interruption. There’s a sense that everyone here—from bartender to server—takes a bit of pleasure in their craft, sharing it with those who come through the door. Whether you’re settling in for a casual lunch, lingering over drinks with friends, or stepping in for a comforting dinner, Déjà Vu feels less like a destination and more like a well-kept secret you’ve been quietly letting yourself enjoy.

No one under 21 can enter this establishment! It’s a cute dive bar restaurant! We came and it was empty which for us was great! 6 of us got a table and had quick service! I love wings and these wingers were GOOD! the fried pickles were so good and so glad they didn’t come out as spears! The waiter was super friendly and attentive! Would definitely come back if in the area!

Staff was wonderful and so was the food! Had my first po boy here! The bartender was so amazing and really looked like he enjoyed his job and the company he held.

We will come back for lunch or dinner and see. The biscuits were really good, but the gravy was so bland. I'm very surprised by how bland it actually was. The food was ok.

Went because it was close to our hotel walking distance had a hamburger and fried pickles. Wait staff was friendly and food was good. Place has an interesting history.

This looks like a hole in the wall, but so does half of the French quarter. Food was great and service was fast. I would definitely come back.

This is great little NOLA secret. Staff is very nice. Treat them well. Great drinks, decent food, in a perfect "Open 24 Hours" bar. The prices are very reasonable.

Luckily, we found this great bar/restaurant on our first night in New Orleans. We traveled spontaneously over Thanksgiving weekend with our 3 dogs. Déjàvu Bar and Grill welcomed all of them, treated us like regulars, and served excellent local food — each dish better than the last! One note: they offer gluten-friendly options, but I should have also asked for dairy-free, since butter is widely used in the local cuisine. Highly recommended — we had a wonderful night!

Officially my favorite bar in the French Quarter. The food is great. The appetizers were tasty. The breakfast and coffee brought me back to life. The pours and the staff are far above average. There's a reason we went back and will go back again and that reason is Benjamin. What a guy.
